Miscellaneous
Classroom activities
Classroom activities consist of: listening to audio fragments; watching video fragments; preparatory exercises for communicative tasks; communicative exercises.
Language Lab & Textbook
The course fee does not cover the textbook, but it does cover a pass for the language laboratory, and a collection of lexical and grammatical exercises.
The language lab is situated on the ground floor of the "P.C. Hoofthuis" and may be used for the following purposes: to do homework; to work on pronunciation of Dutch; to improve listening skill by working with video fragments and CD's; to do computer exercises.
Homework & Classroom Attendance Required
In the winter course, participants are expected to do two or three hours of homework a day. This homework - studying texts, writing texts and doing exercises - is essential. Students who systematically don't do their homework cannot expect to realise the objectives specified for their course. Furthermore, students who don't do their homework are not able to function properly in the classroom. Several classroom activities are based on the assumption that students have done their homework.
In the interest of the participants, the teacher will see to it that they do their homework. If a student systematically neglects his homework and/or attends the course very irregularly, the teacher will discuss with him whether it is sensible to continue attending the course
Only students who have regularly attended the course will be allowed to sit the final examination.
