Cultural Networks at Work in Siberia

On invitation of Kuhnya Simon Mundy will visit Novosibirsk and Manjerok (Republic of Altai) from June 15 - 21, 2007.
He will first travel to Etnofest in Manjerok where he will hold a speech for festival and event managers on Cultural Tourism: the European Experience. He will attend this world music festival and hold interviews with the organizers of Etnofest.
Simon Mundy will also be present at the launch of an alternative Arts Center with stages and rooms for Master Classes and ateliers for visiting artists. This Center which provides for year round activities of incentives to travel, responds to the need for Manjerok to develop as a tourist destination and as an income generator.

On Tuesday, June 19, an Open Conference will be held on Using the European Cultural Space in the Central Library of Novosibirsk where Simon Mundy will give an introduction to the main European cultural networks and cultural institutes and their impact on the national and international cultural policies.
The session aims to improve the knowledge of cultural operators on how to engage across borders.

This will be followed by a Round Table on Siberia - Europe, Connecting through Cultural Networks and an Open Panel Discussion on Wide Europe and Narrow Europe, the relationship between Russia, the European Union and the space in between.

Simon Mundy and Siberian poets and musicians will hold a Poetry Reading in the jazzclub Truba in the evening of Wednesday 20 June.

Simon Mundy is a writer and International Cultural Affairs Adviser as well as facilitator and rapporteur in the fields of intercultural dialgue, social cohesion and cultural policy - particularly when related to conflict, political development and security issues.
